Hygienist

The hygienist is a very important member of our team and specialise in the treatment and prevention of gum diseases, which can cause teeth to be lost through the destruction of the supporting bone, gum and ligaments. The Hygienist  routinely cleans teeth, monitors gum condition and offers advice on oral hygiene and diet.

Dental Hygienists have both clinical and health promotional responsibilities; clinically they help to treat and prevent periodontal (gum) disease by scaling and polishing teeth, applying prophylactic and anti-microbial materials and undertake monitoring and screening procedures; their health promotion role includes motivating and encouraging individuals and groups in oral health practices including oral hygiene and diet advice.

Fissure Sealants

Sealants are a safe and painless way of protecting your children’s teeth from decay.  A sealant is a protective plastic coating which is applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth and which then forms a hard shield that keeps food and bacteria from getting into the tiny grooves in the teeth and causing decay.
